This morning I woke up and thanked the lord I still had my vagina. I am on high alert since there are people out there who want to take it away from me. How would I even function without my lady parts in this society? The slit of the clit has been mine since birth. My vagina is like my pinky finger, sworn to secrecy. However, I know of a man who is determined to get inside, take control, and find out what I’ve been up to. That’s right, Ken “The Cooch” Cuccinelli. He is the man who wants to know every woman in Virginia, because “Virginia is NOT for Vaginas” and that is all there is to it this election cycle. You can’t drink a cup of coffee in this town without “The Cooch” and his comrades trying to find a way to make up your mind about how to care for your vagina, womb, uterus, and all things “Women’s” Reproductive Rights.
Let me say up front, I am a Pro-Life kind of gal. That is my PERSONAL choice. I also believe that the issue of Women’s Reproductive Rights are NOT only a Women’s issue, it is a MALE RESPONSIBILITY issue. If the Republicans could ever get their heads wrapped around this one, they may have a shot at the Presidency. Let’s just be clear, sperm has life. It starts with the male, NOT the female. Sperm swim to the egg, so that means there is life even BEFORE inception. The egg is just the holding place; the oven warmer. If either side would finally step up and use this analysis, we could finally agree that inception is where life begins. Ta-da! Problem solved!
However, we still have the question of the right to choose. I choose Jimmy Choo, but that is not the issue. Or is it? Selecting a pair of shoes is a simple expression of one’s own choice and freedom of speech. My selection of shoes does not impede the rights of others, unless they wanted the same shoes and I took the last pair in a 6 1/2. Pity you, anywho! Could it be that the reason “The Cooch” and his team of Vagina Voyeurs are so concerned about my lady parts is because they in some way feel like I am the one that got to the boutique before they did and they wish they had a pair (pun intended).
I can only speculate that the race in Virginia will define the 2016 election. If Virginia goes to “The Cooch” then the “Coochies” will go to the Republicans. Gird your loins! The panty raid of 2014 is up and running, literally, and I am not sure the rest of America is tuned in. This is a defining moment in politics and Virginia is going to roll out the red carpet for the rest of the United States to watch. Set your DVR’s because Pink is the new Black, not Orange! The focus on our Femininity is at risk and we need to make sure that the people responsible for their personal life choices are able to continue to make their own personal life choices. I think we need to focus on the education of the issue, not the abortion of the issue. I know, I know, tax dollars are used to pay for a portion of the procedures. Yes, but my tax dollars also pay for war, free lunch, education, farm subsidies, Virginia Governor’s kid’s food…. wife’s wardrobe…. legal fees for receiving gifts, etc.
It would seem as though I should be advocating for an end to abortion because I am Pro-Life. No, I am advocating that each person have the right to take responsibility for their own actions. If the Republicans want for everything to run like a “free-market” system then they should step away from the clinics and see if the Market determines they are necessary. The contradictions in policies cause the divide in the party itself. The Republicans can’t come together, because their own platform is not together or in order. As the news outlets continue to run the stories about abortion clinics being shut down, and Rachel Maddow continues mapping the dissension and descent, you can see the targets of the Republican party fading away as they slip Mickeys’ into legislative Bills in the midnight hours to shut down these clinics. They forget or fail to realize the clinics also provide the much needed education and additional services many Women need.
Stay focused, because the fight is not just about the clinics. As they shut down new ones will open under the new regulations, finding innovative ways to provide much needed services. However, the fight is about the rights of people to make their own choices. This is where the infringement is the greatest. If the Republicans can cut off your right to choose, they can also cut off your right to marry, to educate, to live the way you choose. All of this suffocation of rights is slowly showing the power of the pen. If you are not active in your local politics, attend some meetings; hear what is going on at the ground level. Get involved! We can’t just sit and wait for big elections to finally wake up and pray. We need to be active every step of the way and shouting the news of what is taking place while Rip Van Winkle is actually getting ripped off.
